The reporter had stumbled on JY's blog while doing research on after-school education.
JY had a hard time explaining herself as she couldn't express herself in Mandarin and the reporter had a limited command of english. So JY resorted to showing her websites and using sign language.

JY convinced the reporter to try her hand at making a gum paste rose.
The reporter said she didn't know that it was such a difficult task,
