Discovering PSN 21stJuly2011

Push and pull to levers to move the train. Ean was delighted see a blue train, just like Thomas and it had tracks too.
Fai and Han went to assist a damsel in distress who had trouble moving the stiff levers. Fai shifted the levers for her and Han pushed from behind.
From then on, Han became the official train pusher.
The kids' favourite
See the indentation you made on the other side.
It was so much fun.
Giant keyboard
Monkeying around with Bernoulli's principle.
Marvellous playground
Move around pipes and hoses to get a ball from one end to another

Hall of mirrors.
There was even a mirror and glass maze. The maze would have been difficult to get out of, too bad the glass panels were blemished with a lot of fingerprints

Playing with fire

The boys getting mesmerized by the flames.
We have ourselves a little bonfire every now and then. The smoke chases the mosquitoes away, the soot it produces is good for the garden and the boys have the opportunity to handle fire.
Fai decided to be an blacksmith.
He heated his wood in the flames.
The heated wood is then immersed into a bucket of water. His assistant, Han, was sent to collect the water beforehand.
Then hammer and sharpen the tip of the 'sword' with a rock.
Fai went on to make a camp from twigs he and Han had brought back from the beach and leaves from the jambu tree

Fai said it wasn't completed yet, he needed to get bigger leaves for the walls

Stick and stones by the beach

The beach on a late weekday afternoon at low tide.

Han practicing his Ip Man moves on a log
Fai's camp
Trees are great for climbing....
and swinging
The boys neatly arranged drift wood and sticks onto 2 logs.
Examining cracked laterite soil.
Wildflowers
The road home

Walking home with arms wrapped around each other. Such a tender sight.

First harvest

First harvest of sweet potato leaves fresh from the garden for dinner

A few pieces ginger started sprouting and I had left them at the countertop with the intention to plant them into pots. Next thing I knew, Han came along, spotted the offending sprouts and lob them off with a knife.
Looks like I have to wait till the ginger sprouts again.

Sg Tekala, Hulu Langat 16thJuly2011

We dropped by Hutan Lipur Sungai Tekala because DH had oversee his technicians at work.
The kids got to see their father's workmen get ready ready.

It was a beautiful late morning, with streams of sunlight peaking out from between the foliage. Many picnickers, most ready with a satay stand and charcoal to barbecue their marinated chicken and fish. The smell wafting around from all directions made me really hungry.
Fai constructed a dam/fish trap
Han using chopsticks
Han needed help to lift a rock and Fai came to his aid.
Using all their might to lift it up onto a log.
Fai busy extending his fish trap while his brothers had Burger Ramli
A green lizard
From Sungai Tekala we took a drive to Semenyih Dam

It was very scenic.
Now to plan a camping trip...the kids can't wait :)

The Beach

We found this creature washed up on the shore.
Ean is rather fond of looking at little snails
Fai building a fort for hermit crabs
A hairy cockle
The many uses of a bucketful of sand. To stand on......
and to do weight lifting
Found this tree by the beach with interesting roots.
We thought it would make a good clothes horse.
The things we haul home
Fai collected lots of cat's eyes

Fai's faces with shells from the beach on Jackfruit leaves.
