Fortress by Uncle Sony April2011

We left the Lego in a heap of mess a few weeks ago and came back to THIS!
Uncle Sony used nearly every Lego piece to build a fortress for the boys

The boys loved it.
Attack!! Fire! Booom!
The boys had hours of play.

Learning through sharing

These 3 men from Punjab, India have been helping us out with the construction and landscaping work in our PD home.
The boys have adopted them as their older brothers.
Han and Fai would help them make capati and would sit with them in a circle sharing their capati and vegetarian dish.
In the photo above, Fai introduced them to RISK but when he sensed that they weren't interested in the game, he showed them his 'Walk with Dinosaurs' book and shared his knowledge on dinosaurs with them.
Ean has recently joined his brothers when they have playtime with the 'Uncle Singhs' and can be seen trying hard to understand their heavily accented English.

Chapati by the beach

The kids were delighted that we would be having dinner by the beach.
The tide usually comes in early in the evenings but during the Hari Raya Haji weekend it was low tide at 6pm.

Swathy joined us for the weekend. Waggy the neighbourhood dog tagged along too.

Khushpal prepares the atta flour while Gobind arranges the firewood.
The rest of us wait around anxiously, trying to be helpful.
Gobind says that back home in India his wife only uses wood fire to cook her chapati as she finds the smell from the gas stove offensive.

mouth-watering chapati Hot! Hot!
It was a beatiful night.
Clear skies.
Bright twinkling stars. Which reminds me - I need to get a book on astronomy.
The sea was calm and Kent and the kids went in a few times to check on the nets. Not much fish though.
